Jennifer Summer
Head of Learning
Jennifer is registered as a senior systemic psychotherapist with the Association of Family Therapy (AFT). She has an advanced diploma in the supervision and teaching of family and systemic psychotherapy. For 20 years, she worked in an NHS child and adolescent mental health service undertaking expert witness parenting assessments for the courts. She has also worked in children’s social care as a specialist clinician in the safeguarding teams and fostering service.
Jennifer leads on the systemic content of Collective Space’s training programmes for many different children’s social care organisations. She designs and delivers programmes including the AFT accredited foundation level training, and she sits on the exam board for this. She works as a freelance systemic tutor for various organisations including teaching on social work courses. She still works in direct practice with families experiencing trauma in a clinical psychology service as well as offering clinical work in the practice branch of Collective Space.
Jennifer is passionate about supporting social workers to realise the benefit that systemic ideas have in the social work context. Students appreciate the clear and accessible way in which she explains complex theoretical ideas.
Jenny explained everything really well and was very skilful and knowledgeable in the subject area. Wonderful trainer and great experience. I couldn’t see anywhere that this training could be improved as there was accessible content and good use of relevant case studies and examples to embed concepts.
